Who We Are
Heidi Jameson is the founder of The Mangroves Seeds of Change, LLC. She received both her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and her BS in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, where she was a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society. She is an Adoption Competency certified Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She recently completed training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and anticipates completing national certification requirements by the Fall of 2024.
Her professional experience includes working with sexual abuse and domestic violence victims; domestic violence perpetrators; children, teens, and their families; and providing intensive outpatient services. She previously enjoyed working with middle school students, young adults on the Autism Spectrum, college students with disabilities, athletes, and international students.
On a personal note, she is the daughter of, wife of, and stepmother of military veterans; a history buff; animal lover; crocheter; and former member of American Mensa. She practices a nondenominational form of Christianity, but is open to all clients, regardless of their faith background or atheism.
Volunteerism
As a former member of American Mensa, Heidi volunteered as Teen Event Coordinator for the Broward chapter of American Mensa, served on the Scholarship Review committee, and was Speaker Coordinator for the 2015 Regional Gathering in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She also served as Chair of the Broward Gifted Advisory Council from 2011 - 2013. While at NSU, Heidi served on the Holocaust Reflection Essay contest committee. Other volunteering included staffing and fundraising for autism research funding events (original founder of "Team NSU"), staffing the DisAbilities Expo in Broward County for several years, and leading a group of women who contributed charitable crafting for local organizations. Most notable of the charitable crafting was the year her craft group made 65 blankets for residents of Broward Children's Center.
Heidi strongly believes in the premise that everyone is doing the best they can and deserves the best possible service, without judgment. While she takes an integrative approach, tailoring her counseling to the needs of each individual client, she draws heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, both of which empower clients from many cultures to direct their own lives.
