Margarita "Yuri" Medina, Ph.D., LPC-S

Picture
I have dedicated three decades of my life to providing counseling services. My therapeutic approach is Existential Phenomenological, with a strong emphasis on Jungian psychology.  Additional approaches include play therapy, art therapy, SandPlay, EMDR, family studies, psychophysiology, and neuropsychology.

My eclectic tools range from expressive art therapies to cognitive behavioral techniques. In addition, I have been blessed with training and work opportunities that have sharpened my clinical skills. My experience includes being a therapist for outpatient clinics, private practice, and hospital settings (inpatient, day hospital/partial hospital, intensive outpatient, and mobile assessment team). My clients' ages range from 3 to older adults. My specialties are trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting issues, relationship issues, school issues, and ADHD.

My overall goal is to instill hope and health in individuals and families. The community eventually benefits by instilling hope and health in individuals and families. As a result, our societies have become healthier and better places for all of us.  I want to further my education by completing a master’s in art therapy and a doctoral degree in Psychophysiology.

Besides my career, my home life consists of raising six children. I was blessed with a set of twins and triplets. I am still raising the three younger children. I have had the experience of being a young and an older mother and going through infertility issues, which has made me treasure raising my children more. In addition, I enjoy the outdoors, crocheting, knitting, and sewing in my spare time.
